Buehler's New Beer & Wine Bar Concept

BUEHLER'S NEW BEER AND WINE BAR CONCEPT: A COHESIVE DECOR PACKAGE BY SKY

To stay ahead of the game in grocery retail, businesses must adapt to the significant shifts in customer’s needs and wants. Through inviting and eye-catching signage and decor, SKY was able to help Buehler’s Fresh Foods create a new beer and wine bar concept that delivers a pub-style experience.

With SKY experts leading design, manufacturing and installation, SKY delivered Buehler’s a cohesive beer and wine experience, seamlessly integrated into a grocery setting. Employing elements of modern design and forward thinking concept, Buehler’s is a destination not just for grocery shopping, but as a local spot to socialize and explore a wide selection of beers and wines.

CREATING A PUB-STYLE EXPERIENCE IN A GROCERY STORE

The SKY team took this project from concept to creation, resulting in a decor package that captures shopper’s attention to build traffic for the new beer taproom and wine bar.

"The main goal of the project was to create an elevated and inviting space where customers would feel like lingering and potentially grabbing a beer,” said SKY Creative Director Jorge Sanclemente.

Visible from the store entrance, signage for the beer and wine section creates visual interest and informs customers of the extensive craft beer and wine selection. In addition, the SKY team designed a cohesive package for a nearby floral department as well as the dairy section.

In order to achieve a pub-style setting in a grocery store, the design features a blend of Buehler’s branding standards with modern industrial design elements. Materials such as corrugated metal and antique pine laminate against an exposed brick wall are reminiscent of pubs and breweries.

MANAGING A PROJECT FROM DESIGN TO INSTALL

Being able to manage a project from concept to installation allowed SKY's designers, manufacturers, and installation teams to work together seamlessly. Sanclemente found that nothing gets lost in translation when you are able to see the design process from conception to installation.

“Communication started from the moment we started designing,” Sanclemente added. “Having all the parties involved in the process saved them time and, consequently, saved them and the client money.”

No project is perfect, so open communication allowed the SKY team to problem-solve on the spot. For example, when the structure of one of the walls could not accommodate the entire length of a metal wall feature, there was no need to halt the progress. The installation crew could directly collaborate with the design team to find a solution.

"Having design, manufacturing, and installation under one roof is a no-brainer," said Sanclemente. "We were able to design a great-looking store and stay on budget.

"We hope this new section will become a destination for regular shoppers and customers looking to take a break or enjoy a happy hour.”

INNOVATIVE DECOR CONCEPT AND SEAMLESS PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Through this project with Buehler's Fresh Foods, SKY successfully created a decor concept that sets the bar high for grocery retail by creating a social space amidst traditional grocery retail offerings. It’s an innovative example for grocery retailers looking to adapt to the changing market and shifting customer desires.

In addition, SKY's ability to manage the project from concept to installation generated a cohesive decor package that captures shoppers' attention while staying on time and on budget for our clients.
